Lula Mae Williams, age 78, of Elkhart passed away on September 5, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1938 to A. B. and Maggie Mae (Montgomery) Gross in Cruger, MS. On December 25, 1955, Lula married Leon Williams. He survives. Lula worked for Elkhart Cases, MTS, and most recently was a Paraprofessional with Pierre Moran and Elkhart Community Schools. She enjoyed gardening, hair styling, and cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. Lula is survived by her husband, Leon; her children, Velma A. (Roy) Jackson of Elkhart, Glenn (Sheila) Williams and Yvette Williams, both of Peoria, IL; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her siblings, Robert (Josie) Gross, Jacqueline (James) Jones, Rosie Martin, Lucille Stevens, Wilma Primer, Dorothy J. Furr, Dephine Gross, Valorie (James) Pride, Brenda Williams, Charline (Thomas) Collins, Delores (Henry) Moss, Shirley Gross, and Joyce Gross. Lula was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leon Williams, Jr.; a grandson, Deon Williams; her brothers, A. J. Gross, William T. Gross, and Bob Waley; and a sister Connie Keller. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1 PM at the Willowdale Church of Christ, 1400 Willowdale Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46514 with Reverend Rob Berghorst and Reverend Ray Caudill officiating. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the service.
