Lura I. Holland, age 74, of Osceola, Indiana passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on June 5, 2009 following a brief illness. Lura was born February 22, 1935 in Wayside, West Virginia to the late Robert G. and Lura Thelma (Bolen) Smith. In August of 1966, Lura married Mr. Jay Eugene Holland. Jay preceded her in death, passing away in June of 1990.
Surviving are her children, Timothy Wayne Henninger, Robert H. (Maggie Freese) Henninger, Jason M. Holland, Sgt. Ryan Paul Holland, USMC, Kathy Henninger, and a foster child, Lenora. She is also survived by her sister Joyce (Mel) Freeman and her 13 grandchildren, Regina, Angela, Raymond, Alex, Shadow, Amy, Lura, Angie, Brian, Alexis, Tyler, Dylan and Cameron, along with her great grandchildren, Colton, Lillika, and Savannah. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Kay L. Henninger, and was preceded in death by her brother Robert "Buddy" Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561.
Lura was employed as a supervisor by the Mishawaka Metal Stamping for several years in the Silk Screen Department. She enjoyed spending time helping children in need, and planting flowers in her garden.
