Madeline M. McDonald, age 79, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Mishawaka. The Mishawaka native was born October 4, 1934 to the late Monroe M. and Katherine (Zehring) Miller. In January of 1995, she married Paul McDonald in Mishawaka.
Paul survives, along with her sons, Stephen E. (Kathie) Klatt, and Gregory M. (Mary) Klatt, both of Granger, and 4 grandchildren; Jason M. Klatt of North Dakota, Ryan S. Klatt of Granger, Kristina L. Rozek of Noblesville, Indiana and Justin J. (Ashleigh) Klatt of Mishawaka. Also surviving is her brother, John V. Miller of Georgia and 5 great grandchildren, Caden Klatt, Addison Klatt, Brooklyn Klatt, Levi Rozek, and Lila Rozek. Madeline is also survived by her step-children Mary (Bob) Lagas of California, Paul E. (Deni) McDonald of Mishawaka, Brenda Barber of Idaho and Karen (Bob) Briggs of Nevada. In addition, she has 19 step great grandchildren, 4 of whom lived locally and she was close to; Sierra, Paul, Charlie, and Christopher McDonald. She was preceded in death by her infant brother Monroe Miller, and her son in law, Sonny Barber.
Madeline was employed many years as an office manager at several area car dealerships. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends, and loved to share her homemade meals with others. She also loved animals, especially her dogs. Madeline also enjoyed regular trips to Rentown with her very special friend, Pat Henderson.
Though she enjoyed many things in life, she was most proud of her two sons, and those who knew her as their "Nana" which included her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Her unselfish and caring nature was shown through her love for others. Many times she opened her home to others who had no place to go during the holidays.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm memorial service on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Rd, Granger. Pastor Tom Murphy will be officiating.
