Margaret V. Smith, better known as Marge or Margie by her friends and family, and Nana by her immediate family after becoming a grandmother, passed away on Nov. 21, 2022.
She was born on April 14, 1928 in Bremen, IN to the late Alfred and Selma (Yenna) Keck. Marge was married to Johnnie E. Smith on Sept. 7, 1946, until his passing in 1993. In addition to herloving husband, she was preceded in death by their son, Michael, all of her siblings and her longest, dearest friend, Joyce Poland.
Marge is survived by her daughter, Mary (Michael) Brinton; granddaughters, Keali (Joseph) Simons of Oak Park, IL and Chelsea (Brant) Bowen of Carmel, IN; grandson, Stefan (Samantha) Brinton; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Marge worked several jobs throughout her life, finally retiring from Kellermeyer in the 1990s. She remained active after retirement with her family, friends, and neighbors. She was a long-time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She liked to travel, Mackinac Island being a personal favorite, even after traveling in Europe. She was endearing to everyone who knew her.
Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 PM Friday Dec. 2, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. A Funeral Service in her honor will begin at 1 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
