Mari E. Mach, 91, of Elkhart, passed away on Oct. 29, 2020 at Hubbard Hill Estates. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on Aug. 12, 1929. She was joyfully added to the union of Anna and William Garbett. Her birth mother was Alice Henry Skiver. Mari was previously married to Arno E. Mach. Her parents and Arnie are deceased.
Survivors include her 2 daughters: Margaret Slusher and Barbara (Henry) Hamsher. She also has 2 granddaughters: Shari (Slusher) Powell and Lindy Mari Hamsher; one grandson, Scott Slusher; 2 step-grandchildren, Rick and Ryan Slusher; and 10 great-grandchildren, including Spencer and Austin Stalker and Zack and Kaytlin Slusher. She is also survived by a half-sister, Marilyn (Dan) Britton and Allen Skiver.
Mari was preceded in death by 2 half-sisters, Syvia Morrissey and Iris Whitney.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, MI. She worked for the original Health Company in Benton Harbor before moving to Elkhart. She had worked at Gemeinhardt Flute Company in Elhart in the Sales Department for 39 years. Mari retired on Aug. 1, 2003. She constantly continued with workshops at IUSB and sales training sessions during those years. After retirement, she continued taking classes at IVY Tech. She treasured the many friends, teachers, dealers and the fames Gemeinhardt field representatives that she worked with during those years.
During her retirement years, she volunteered at Elkhart General Hospital in the surgery waiting room and the information desk. She also worked with the Lifeline Ministries Youth Group and truly loved this organization. She would encourage anyone to assist in this life saving effort.
She enjoyed the company of her family and looked forward to all of their accomplishments and activities.
A Funeral Service in her honor will be on Thursday Nov. 5, 2020 at 3 P.M. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Chaplain Dave Severance will preside. Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the funeral.
