Maria I. Krill, age 84, of South Bend, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Mrs. Krill was born November 9, 1926 in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil to the late Angelo and Anita (Goncalves) Zancan. On March 28, 1961, Maria married Nicholas F. Krill in Hammond, Indiana. Nicholas preceded her in death, passing away July 13, 2000.
Surviving is her brother, Wovaldir Zancan of Brazil, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and one great-great grand nephew and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Maria met her husband in Brazil while singing in a show. She also sang on the radio, and acted in several radio soap operas prior to moving to the United States over fifty years ago. After marriage, she became a homemaker, and taught Spanish to the employees of the Bendix Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and loved being with her dog, Pepe''
