Marie Ellen Mowat, 100, of Elkhart, passed away at 2:00 am, Monday, September 03, 2012 in Elkhart Hospice House. Marie was born on July 4, 1912 in Wakarusa, the daughter of the late Frederick and Edith (Searer) Pletcher. On December 31, 1936, she married Ben Mowat. He passed away on March 1, 1975.
She is survived by her son, Morey (Kathy) Mowat of Ekhart, two grandchildren, Cynthia (Mike) Peters of Middletown, NY and Gary Mowat of South Bend, In and three great grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, and Caroline. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Schmuhl of Elkhart. Marie was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Marie graduated from Elkhart High School, was a Homemaker & a member of First Baptist Church in Elkhart. Marie retired from Miles Laboratories.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
