A. Marie (Works) Pawlicki, 89 of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, September 11, 2015. The Marion Arkansas native was born June 20, 1926 to Henry & Pinkie Newman. A former hair stylist for many years, Marie was a member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She retired as a counselor & social worker who assisted abused women & children. Marie was a published author, organized & established the Hypoglycemia Support Group at Notre Dame, mentored international exchange students at Bethel College & Notre Dame and was a member of the Women''s Group at St. John''s Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Pawlicki; her son, Raymond Works; grandson, Shawn Works; sisters, Erma Murrey & Cora Westley; brothers, Nathan, Premler, Eddie & Waudell Newman. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dorothy Neal & Bonnie Campbell, both of Mishawaka; sons, Jerry (Regina) Works of Battle Creek MI & Carl (Nancy Ross) Works of South Bend & Pompano Beach FL; daughter-in-law, Elsa Works of Granger and her extended family, the Stevens children; Erma, Deborah, Mark, Lillian, Eric and Angela. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Teah Hetteson and Genee Neal, both of Mishawaka, Lauren "Noni" Campbell of South Bend, Jodi Smith & Catrina Fields, both of Warren TX, Mathias Works of Battle Creek MI, Carl "Isaiah" (Leanne) Ross-Works of St. Louis MO, Carmen Works & Rhonda Works, both of South Bend, Jaimee Works of Indianapolis; granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Works of Mishawaka and Gillom F. Works of South Bend, to whom she was formerly married and is the father of their children. Marie also leaves a host of beloved great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Funeral Services 12:00 Friday September 18, 2015 in St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey Street, South Bend, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to services.
