Marilyn Suzanne Wiard, age 82, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Marilyn was born December 20, 1931 in Burket, Indiana to the late Hershel and Wilma (Flohr) Loher. Marilyn graduated from Leesburg High School in 1950, and on April 12, 1952, she married Charles R. Wiard in Warsaw, Indiana.
Surviving is her husband Chuck Wiard of Mishawaka, and their children; Jeffrey Allen (Monique) Wiard of South Bend, Barry Owen (Julia) Wiard of Columbia City, Indiana, Sonya Arleen (Tom) Shepard of Nashville, Tennessee, and Tonya Eileen (Dave) Adamson of South Bend. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Drew (Amber) and Brittany Wiard, Christopher (Jessica), Cassandra, Corinn, Caroline and Camrin Shepard, along with four great grandchildren, Bailee, Maxton, Delaney and Lilly Wiard. Marilyn is survived as well by her brothers, Wilmer E. (Alice) Loher of Castle Rock, Colorado and David E. Loher of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn D. (Dana) Bowers and her sister in law Karen Loher.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, October 17, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Pastor Jason Nicholls of the Redeemer Missionary Church in South Bend will officiate the services.
Marilyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and feeding the hummingbirds, cardinals and finches at her bird feeder in her yard. She and her husband loved to work in their garden, and she helped to can and freeze the many fruits and vegetables they raised together over the years.
In her memory, donations may be made to the Redeemer Missionary Church, 2313 Solomon Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46615, where she was a longtime and devoted member.
