Mark Lane Rogers, age 57, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital of natural causes. Mark was born September 10, 1951 in Houston Texas to the late Dewey and Emma Lee (Estridge) Rogers. On June 19, 1982 in St. Thomas Catholic Church of Elkhart, Mark was united in marriage to the former Ms. Agatha Hylkema.
Agatha survives, along with three children, Gary Rogers, Daniel Rogers, and Renee Rogers, all of Osceola. Also surviving are his brothers, Donald Rogers of Houston, Texas, Phillip Rogers of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Steve (Fran) Rogers of New Ulm, Texas, and Tommy (Judy) Rogers of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mark was preceded in death by his half brothers Spencer and John Kaiser and one sister-in-law Wanda Rogers.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, March 27, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, March 27, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastor David Garty of Living Stones Christian Fellowship of Middlebury will officiate.
Mark served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Navy before his honorable discharge in 1993. He had obtained the rank of Air Controlman First Class. Following his service in the Navy, Mark was employed as a laser operator at Atlas Die of Elkhart until 2006. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching the Dallas Cowboys play football and the Houston Astros play baseball. During his time in the service, Mark was also actively involved in playing softball.
