Obituary

SOUTH BEND -Marvin Wade Tucker, 84, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, June 23, 2017 in Granger, Indiana. Wade was born to the late Una and Yola (Timbers) Tucker in Rochester, Indiana on November 2, 1932. In 1953, Mr. Tucker was wed to Frances Robertson until her passing in 1985. Wade went on to marry Ms. Doris Myers on September 27, 1986 in Mishawaka, Indiana at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church. They spent nearly 31 years of marriage together.
Wade was a United States Air Force veteran and was based out Las Vegas at the Nellie Air Force Base until his tour in Japan. He was a member of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishawaka. He loved to garden and enjoyed planting flowers. He especially worked hard at surrounding his home with thousands of tulips. Wade and his wife, Doris, were featured in the South Bend Tribune for all of their colorful landscaping that spotlighted their tulips. After his retirement, Mr. Tucker and his wife spent much of their time traveling the east coast down to Florida and exploring the caves of the Midwest.
In addition to his loving wife, Wade is survived by his sons, Steven R. Tucker of Gary, IN, Clarence (Rebecca) Myers of Mishawaka; daughters, Jean (James) Reed of South Bend, Wanda (John) Carter, also of South Bend, Clarice (David) Hamman of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Matthew (Diane) Tucker of Kentucky, Tricia (Michael) Couch of Indianapolis, Raymond Tucker of Gary, Aaron Bradley of South Bend, Paul Bradley of South Bend, Jill (Richard) Kelly of Mishawaka, Michael (Jennifer) Carter of South Bend, Douglas (Angela) Carter of South Bend, Matthew Carter of South Bend, Christopher (Heather) Hamman of Greenwood, Leah (Larry III) Leslie of Elkhart, Madison Hamman of Mishawaka, Heather (Ian) McDougal of Mishawaka, Lindsay (Philip) BeMiller of Zionsville, Joshua Myers of South Bend, Heather (Rick) Brown of Tennessee, Kelly (Eric) Martin of Michigan, and Jamie (Bobby) Smith of Georgia. Also surviving are 23 great-grandchildren. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his brothers, Namman Tucker, Gordon Tucker, Dean Tucker and sisters, Helen Drudge and Norma Scott.
Visitation for Wade will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, June 26, 2017 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Funeral service will be held at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church located at16495 Ireland Rd, Mishawaka, on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:00 am. Pastor Jeff Zell will be officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
