Mary M. (Smith) Corban, age 83, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Thursday May 25, 2023 in Mishawaka, IN. Mary was born on June 8, 1939 in South Bend, IN to the late Howard and Dorothy (Leatherman) Smith. Mary worked in the family business as well as for Walgreen's and St. Joseph Hospital until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed playing cards and watching classic television shows including her all-time favorite MASH. She had a deep appreciation for history and thoroughly enjoyed travelling the countryside and visiting its vast cultural landmarks. Mary had a profound love of reading and completing crossword puzzles which was evident in her extensive knowledge and literary discussions on nearly any subject. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved very dearly. Mary is preceded in death by her father Howard (1973), mother Dorothy (2011), brothers Russell "Dean" Smith (1986), Roger Stubblefield (1997), Ola Stubblefield (2002) and Percy Stubblefield (2016). Survivors include her sister Joann Barbour of Sammamish, WA, daughter Julie Corban of South Bend, IN, son John (Kara) Corban of South Bend, IN, son Jeff (Lisa) Corban of Warsaw, IN, daughter Jena (Joe Pajot) Corban of Sebring, FL, son Jay Corban of Osceola, IN, daughter Janice (Bill) Lee of Granger, IN, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her loss leaves a void in all of our hearts, but her legacy of kindness and strength will forever be an inspiration for all who knew her.

Visitation will be Friday June 9, 2023 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy  Osceola, IN 46561. The Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm followed by interment in the cemetery.
