Mary Frances Moreno, age 81, of Vandalia, Michigan, passed from this life at 3:25 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan after an extended illness. Mary was born October 3, 1929 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late George and Phyllis Creager. On October 5, 1973, she married Guillermo "Willie" Moreno in South Bend, Indiana.
She is survived by her husband, Willie, of Vandalia, Michigan, who also served as her devoted caregiver for many years due to her declining health. Also surviving are four daughters; Cynthia Thompson of Edgewood, New Mexico, Linda Wagner of Mishawaka, Indiana, Karen Morris of North Liberty, Indiana, and Nancy (Bill) Longino of Celeste, Texas. Surviving as well are Mary''s step-children, Deb (Mike) Klotz, Rick (Sandy) Moreno, Pam (Bob) Querry, Mindy (Charles) Koecke, and Valerie Moreno. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren; Brett Newton, Missy Newton and Molly Morris, all of South Bend, Luke Morris of North Liberty, Tracy Wagner of Phoenix, Arizona, Shane Thompson of New Mexico, and Billie Longino of Celeste, Texas, 18 step grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be calling one hour prior to the 11:00 am Funeral Service on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mary was employed for over 30 years as a secretary in the Insurance industry, working last for Wilkinson and Hunter Insurance Agency in South Bend. Mary was a wonderful Mom, loving wife, and a hard working career woman all of her life. She enjoyed living on Buck Lake with her husband, flower gardening, making ceramics, and watching great movies. She also loved to cook and spend time with her friends and family, as well as dancing with her husband and reading.
Mary loved animals, especially her dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph County Humane Society; 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, Indiana would be appreciated. Donations may also be made online at www.humanesociety.stjc.org.
