Elkhart – Mary Magdalene (Woodworth) Schlotterback, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart, Indiana.

Mary was born on October 19, 1933, in North Liberty, Indiana, to the late Virgil and Edith (Whybrew) Woodworth. She met the love of her life, Quentin "Ham" Schlotterback, and they were united in marriage on July 16, 1973, in Carson City, Nevada. Together they shared many happy years until Quentin's passing. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Rick Kapsa and James Kapsa, as well as two sisters and six brothers.

Mary leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, including her grandsons, Nick (Stephanie) Kapsa and Dustin (Krista) Kapsa; her daughter-in-law, Becky Kapsa; her beloved great-grandchildren, Barrett and Reese; and many dear friends.

Mary found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. She was a devoted grandmother who never missed a baseball game and always came through with a surprise Christmas gift. She was an avid bowler with an average higher than many folks high games and loved visiting casinos with her dear friends.

She retired from Selmer Musical Instruments, where she soldered instrument keys for many years. In retirement, Mary worked in the deli at Martin's Super Market in Elkhart, where she delighted in serving customers, making new friends, and surprising folks when they learned her age (she was quite spry!). Her warm smile, kind heart, and outgoing personality made her a favorite among coworkers and patrons alike.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in the Veterans Garden, where Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Quentin.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary's memory.
