Mary Ilene Sommers, 73, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully in her home at 9:20 am, Thursday, May 26, 2011. Mary was born on January 31, 1938, the daughter of the late Thurman and Edith (Stayton) Condon. On November 24, 1956, she married Herbert Sommers.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert, four children, Blake Sommers, Timothy Sommers, Tracey Barnard and Betty Warlick, all of Elkhart; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Dustin, Carl, Joshua, Dakota, Naomi, and Michaela. She is also survived by one brother, Robert Condon of Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Patty Nolan, Larry Condon and Anita "Jean" Hartman.
She will be remembered for her love of flowers and gardening. She also loved to cook and to watch birds. She was an amazing homemaker, mother, wife and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the funeral home with entombment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
