Obituary

Mary "Catherine" Spencer, 86, of Mishawaka, passed away at 12:19 am, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on February 11, 1923 in Swayzee, Indiana to the late Merrill and Sylvia (Hite) Comer. On December 25, 1942 in Swayzee, Indiana, she married James R. Spencer.
She is survived by her loving husband, James of Mishawaka, three children, Susan (Richard) Erow of Chesterton, IN, Gary (Sherry) Spencer of Mishawaka, and James R. (Jill) Spencer, Jr. of Osceola, six grandchildren, John (Lujean) Spencer, Tammi (Richard) Davidson, Katrina (Tom) Doty, Kenneth (Jamie) Erow, James R. (Kassie) Spencer, III, and Justin (Carrie Inks) Spencer. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph (Susie) Comer of Swayzee, IN and Benjamin (Sue) Comer of Mesa, AZ and two sisters, Ada Neeley of Ft. Wayne and Betty Dickens of Goshen. She is preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Kevin Erow and one sister, Margaret Rybolt.
Catherine was co-owner/operator of the former Twin Branch A & W Drive-In for over 19 years. She will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren as well as her love for travel, and camping and sewing.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 16, 2009 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
