Mattie M. Robinson, 78, of Elkhart, transitioned to eternal life on Thursday, August 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Shaw, Mississippi on June 30, 1939 to James and Ercille (Winston) Crockett. Mattie was married to the late Grady Robinson, Sr. She was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart. She loved Gospel and Blues music, gardening, and cooking and baking for her family. Mattie''s greatest joy was attending family gatherings and spending time with her loved ones. Mattie is survived by her children, Marvin Earl Crockett of Shaw, MS, Angelia (Troy) Washington, Grady Robinson, Jr., Helen Sandy Robinson all of Elkhart, Jewell (Derrick) Parker of Houston, TX, Cheryl Robinson of Indianapolis, IN, and adopted son MyShaun Robinson; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Jackson and Willie Crockett; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her children, Rufus Crockett, Annette Robinson, James Robinson, Shawn Robinson; a grandson, Markeviel D''Won Crockett; and 4 sisters and 2 brothers. A funeral service in Mattie''s honor will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12 PM with calling one hour prior at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 23805 Sunnyside Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46516. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
