Maxine L. Appleby, 76, of South Bend, died Sunday August 5, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Maxine was born in Salina, KS on October 27, 1935 to Harry LeRoy & Thelma Mayola (Lamer) Chadonia, who preceded her in death. Maxine was a lifelong area resident and retired from the University of Notre Dame. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Sue (Thomas) Walkowski and Judith A. Onderdonk, both of South Bend and Cindy L. Appleby of Ionia, MI; sisters, Shirley McAlexander of Mishawaka, Sandy (Murvin) Shankle of South Bend, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Maxine was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold "H.D." Appleby and her sisters, Betty Michaels and Nona Nickerson.
