OSCEOLA- Melvin P. Mahler, 76, passed away November 18, 2015 in Niles, Michigan. He was the son of Frank and Amelia Agness (Theil) Mahler. Mr. Mahler was a 1958 graduate of Mishawaka High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in 1966 as the crew chief and aircraft mechanic with rank of Sergeant. Melvin went on to work for AM General and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion 308 in Osceola, Our Lady of the Lakes in Edwardsburg, and a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 19. Mr. Mahler''s country came first and he celebrated our hard earned freedoms that we enjoy today. Melvin is survived by his daughter, Tamara Lynn Mahler of Niles, MI; brothers, Raymond Mahler and Jim Mahler; sisters, Anna Marie Dunn and Jane Copeland; he was preceded by his parents and a grandchild, Gabriel Mahler. A gathering of friends and family will be Tuesday November 24, 2015 from 11:00am - 1:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Highway Osceola IN 46561 with a Prayer Service to follow starting 1:00pm with Father Kevin Covert officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens
