Melvin James Moore, 89, of Osceola, passed away at 1:55 am, Monday, September 13, 2010 in Valley View Nursing Home, Elkhart. Melvin was born on April 27, 1921 in Whitewater, Missouri to the late James and Charlotte (Lund) Moore. On March 22, 1947, in Bryon, OH, he married LouEllen Bowers.
He is survived by his loving wife, LouEllen; two sons, Craig Moore and Tim (Jackie) Moore, both of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Chad, Shawn, Todd, and Lori and nine great grandchildren, Cage, Brighton, Caleb, Christen, Christopher, Connor, Ethan, Brody, and Mychaela. He is also survived by a sister, Jerry Heist of Elkhart. He is preceded in death by his parents and a great grandchild, Cailee.
Melvin proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant before his discharge. He worked for CTS for many years before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the VFW Post 985, Goshen and the CTS Quarter Century Club.
Private family services will take place. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola is handling arrangements.
