Michael F. Caligiuri, 87, of Middlebury, died Monday December 31, 2012. The Toledo, OH native was born December 31, 1925 to Joseph and Santa Maria (Cuda) Caligiuri, who preceded him in death. Mike served in the US Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the Rainbow Division and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mike graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Toledo and attended graduate school at Notre Dame. On June 2, 1951, he married Lorraine H. Dombeck. Mike was an Electrical and Design Engineer, first at Bendix in South Bend and then at Johnson Controls in Goshen until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bristol and the D.A.V. Elkhart Chapter 19. In addition to his parents, Michael was also preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Caligiuri. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorraine H. Caligiuri; his twelve children, Linda H. Nihart of Elkhart, Gina (Mark) Middleton of Kendallville, Steven (Connie) Caligiuri of Bristol, Joann (Michael) Robinson of Nappanee, Laura Calvin of Elkhart, Ann (Joseph) McIntyre of Phoenix AZ, Jamie (Brian) Quittschrieber of Shakopee MN, Andrew (Gina) Caligiuri of Elkhart, Edward Caligiuri of Elkhart Jennifer (Fred) Bearman of Fort Wayne, Michelle (Christopher) Rheinheimer of Elkhart and Robin (Cooper) Fisher of Bristol; brothers, James (Joan) Strati of Elkhart, Fortunato (Lorraine M.) Caligiuri of South Bend and Patrick (Nancy) Caligiuri of Toledo; 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and his nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Resurrection 11:00 Saturday January 5 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St., Bristol with calling one hour prior to Mass. Calling also 4-7:30 Friday in the church, with a Vigil Service at 7:30pm. Entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family''s preferred memorial is St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
