Michael W. Heritz, age 53, of Granger, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 following a lengthy battle with alcoholism. Mike was born October 23, 1961 in St. Joseph, Michigan to the late Walter and Evelyn (Rupp) Heritz.
Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Peggy Heritz of Granger, and their children, Robert, Matthew, Laura, and Jennifer Heritz, all of Granger. Also surviving is his sister, Kim (Mike) Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Mike was employed as an accountant for several years with various firms in the area including A.M. General in Mishawaka. He loved to fish, recently enjoying a fishing vacation in Alaska with friends. He also enjoyed family celebrations and playing cards. Mike was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart for many years.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 21, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, with Pastor Robert Schallhorn of Trinity Lutheran Church presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
