Michael Herbert Mielke, age 74, of Mishawaka died unexpectedly on May 15, 2023, surrounded by his adoring family at a hospital in Indianapolis. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol (Cobb) Mielke, three daughters: Katrina (Rich) Miller of Twin Falls, ID, Ambur (Brandon) Horne of Elkhart and Britney (Larry) Nettrouer of Mishawaka. To carry on his legacy are nine grandchildren: Austin, Ezra, Olivia, Max, Michael, Tyler, Steevenson, Roselaure and Kelly; and two great grandchildren: Viktor and Aurora.

Born on November 11, 1949, to the late Herbert and Verona (Wamsley) Mielke of South Bend, Michael,or Mike as many people knew him, was the youngest of three boys. Brother Terry (Jenny) preceded him in death in 2017 and brother Kerry Von (Christine) resides in Palm Beach Shores, FL.

Michael graduated from John Adams High School in 1968 and married Carol, the love of his life, on May 1, 1971. He was a disabled Vietnam veteran who retired from Statewide in Elkhart after 41 years in sales. He loved reading, fishing, cookouts, spending time at Tharpe Lake and making fun memories with his family. Michael will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather who was taken too soon.

Carol and immediate family said goodbye at a private service on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana.
