Michael L. Sassaman, age 62, of Osceola, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital. Mike was born January 26, 1950. He was preceded in death by his father Loyd Sassaman, his mother and step father Harvey and Marilyn Weaver and sister, Suzanne Newcomer. On July 13, 1996, he married Mary F. Freeman.

Mary survives, along with their children, Gabriel (Audrey) Ives of Alaska, Melinda Miller of Carmel, IN, and Jennifer (Jason) Parson of Goshen, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, his sisters Donna (Charles) Stahly and Linda Jackson, both of Elkhart and his brother in law Kenneth Newcomer.

Mike was employed almost 30 years with S&S Siding, Hi-Tech and Supreme in Elkhart, and later as a maintenance supervisor with MJV services in Elkhart. He loved his grandchildren, working outdoors, playing pool, and watching football and baseball.

There will be 2 hours of calling prior to the 6 pm memorial service on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. In his memory, donations may be made to Riley''s Hospital for Children.
