Mitchell Lee DeArmond, of Elkhart, Indiana, entered into eternal life on June 24, 2025, surrounded by his beloved children.
Mitchell was born September 24, 1948, to the late Lloyd DeArmond and Marjorie Gehring in Elkhart. Mitchell graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, California in 1967.
Following graduation, Mitchell enlisted in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of sergeant. He served as a combat veteran in the Vietnam War, earning both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
After completing his military service, Mitchell returned to Elkhart, where he worked primarily as a truck driver until his retirement in the fall of 2007.
Mitchell met the love of his life, Heidi (Lehner), and they were united in marriage on October 17, 1981, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart. Heidi preceded him in death after 39 years of marriage.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling the country with Heidi and spending time with their family and friends.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer Kodner (Mark Goldberg) of San Francisco, California; Ashley DeArmond (Adam Nolan) of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Zachary (Courtney) DeArmond of Waukesha, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his three granddaughters: Sadie Kodner, Layla Nolan, and Penelope Nolan.
Services for Mitchell will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Rev. Spencer Mielke officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, at 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mitchell's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church of Elkhart or The Wounded Warrior Project.
Mitchell will be laid to rest with full military US Army honors at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
