Mitchell L. Forrester, age 83, of Elkhart, passed away at Hubbard Hill Estates on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Mitchell was born December 15, 1928 to the late Victor M. and Clara (Burt) Forrester. On May 23, 1953, Mitchell married Betty Richards. She preceded him in death, passing away in June of 2011.
Surviving are his sons, Randy (Nell) Forrester of Weston, Florida, and David Forrester of Chicago, Illinois. Mitchell is also survived by his grandchildren, Gail Pedroza, Kyle Forrester, and Marc Forrester, as well as his great granddaughter, Carrie Forrester. Preceding him in death was his daughter Carrie Forrester in 1997, and his sister Frances Wallace.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Garden of the Good Shepherd on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.
Mitchell honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for many years at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart before his retirement in 1992, where he was a member of the Union, and served as a Union Steward. Mr. Forrester enjoyed fishing, and was a longtime member of the Baugo Township Lions Club. He had also served as the President of the Jimtown School Board many years ago. He also attended Bethany Missionary Church in Elkhart for many years.
