ELKHART - Morris Vereeke, 95, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 11, 2017. He was born to the late Dennis and Sena (Vandenburg) Vereeke on June 7, 1922 in Decatur, Michigan. Morris married Evelyn Hinderer October 16, 1948 and celebrated nearly 70 years together.
Mr. Vereeke retired from Bendix in South Bend after 30 years. He was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist church and served as an usher. Morris and his wife were also members of the Friendly Pioneers in Elkhart. He loved gardening, woodworking, and was known to be a talented carpenter. Morris was also a fan of baseball. He was always cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers.
Mr. Vereeke is survived by his wife, Evelyn Vereeke; daughters, Joyce Weber, Linda Vereeke, and Cheryl (Bill) Kambs; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
Funeral services for Morris will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 15th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy with Pastor Keith McFarren officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. In honor of Mr. Vereeke''s legacy, his family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church.
