Myron R. Place, 88, formerly of Mishawaka, died Saturday May 3, 2014 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle. He was born in Buchanan, Michigan on July 3, 1925 and was a US Navy veteran. On November 7, 1947 he married Aleta Rollf in Buchanan. Myron retired in 1978 from Bendix Corp after 30 years of employment. He was also the owner of Place Upholstery, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Myron was neighborly, liked the outdoors and staying active; he especially enjoyed taking long walks with his wife. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 4 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters. Myron is survived by his wife of 66 years, Aleta J. Place; sons, Dennis (Susan) Place of Merrillville and Randall Place in Texas; daughters, Dawn (Calvin) Howard of Granger, Deborah (Howard) Morse of South Bend, Karen (Tim) Cornwell of Buchanan, Cheryl (Kevin) Barnes of Mishawaka and Janet (Gene) Minx of Morristown, TN; sister, Reva Poole of Buchanan; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 2:00 Friday May 9, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call from 12-2pm at the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
