Obituary

Nancy Kay Groen, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 5:20 am, Friday, April 15, 2011 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born on April 1, 1950 in South Bend, the daughter of John L. and Mildred L. (Beebe) Bybee, Jr. On April 22, 2000, she married Sydney Groen, and they were together 21 years. She is preceded in death by her father and an infant son, John Howard Fawley
She is survived by her loving husband, Sydney of Elkhart, two children, Stephanie (Mike) Makin of Elkhart and Brad Fawley of Terre Haute; four step children, Carrie (Nick) Hartley of Mishawaka, Ken Groen of Indianapolis, Fred (Rachel) Groen of Beaufort, SC, and Kevin Groen of Elkhart. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher "Baby Doll" and Jenna and five step grandchildren, Xavier, Katie, Cadence, Alyssa, and Fury, as well as her mother, Mildred Eippert and two sisters, Lou Ann (fianc Rick Armstrong) Anglin of Osceola and Jo Ann Hancock of Indianapolis.
Nancy worked for Bayer for 34 years and part time and Elder Beerman for 10 years. She loved boating, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
