Nancy R. McCuddy, 77, passed away on March 18, 2026, at the Center for Hospice, Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN. She was surrounded by family throughout her journey and passed away peacefully.
Nancy was born on April 4, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Alex and Helen (Miller) Klebusits. Nancy grew up on Donald Street and later Robinson Street with her loving older sister Joan. She attended Lincoln Grade School, and St. Matthews Sunday school where she received all of her sacraments.
Nancy graduated from Adams High School in 1966 where she was a part of glee club and business club. After graduation she worked at Pepsicola and attended IUSB for a year. She was a life long Pepsi drinker after that. In December of 1967 she met the love her life Michael McCuddy while cruising Michigan Street. Mike's brand new 1968 Dodge Charger caught her eye. On Leap Day 1968 they began dating.
On June 14, 1969, Nancy married Michael McCuddy, at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, five children spanning 23 years, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild with one on the way. They built a life centered on service, sacrifice, and support.
Nancy dedicated her life to being a loving mother, caring for her five children and cherishing the time she spent with her many grandchildren. She found joy in creating ceramics, collecting Thomas Kinkade pieces, cooking, her Hungarian and German heritage, and history. She was as sharp as a tack until the end and had strong democratic opinions passed down from her mother Helen. Nancy made sure her children would always advocate for themselves.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Michael McCuddy; her children, Sherri (Timothy) Paszli, Michele Hoffman, Sean (Ambre) McCuddy, Heather (Jesse) Stombaugh, and Ryan McCuddy; her 12 grandchildren Austin (Makayla) Kruse, Colton (Katelyn) Kruse, Alexis Paszli, Brooke (Michael) Moamis, Caleb Hoffman, Nathan Hoffman, Liam Brown, Leighton Brown, Lydia Stombaugh, Oona McCuddy, Naomi Stombaugh, and Callista McCuddy; one great-grandchild Wren Kruse; and her sister, Joan Wisner, her nephew Steven Wisner and Charlie Meziere, and many cousins and extended family members. Nancy’s love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Helen and Alex), brother-in-law, Thomas Wisner, Her mother-in-law in law Barbaradine McCuddy, long time family friend Cory Hurlbut and many aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 State Highway 933, South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 noon at the church.
