Nancy Jean Speake, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away on October 22, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in South Bend on March 10, 1942 to Clement C. and Marie (Bloom) Smolka. Nancy worked for Squad's 2
nd
Precinct for many years and Tanglewood Trace in the Dietary Department as a cook until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Mishawaka. Nancy enjoyed reading, Notre Dame and Colts football, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons, John (Jackie) Speake of Elkhart and James (Kim) Speake of Mishawaka; her siblings, Shirley Jones of Mishawaka, James (Rose) Smolka of Mishawaka, Karen (Bill) Schwartz of Granger, Janice (Rob) Zelasko of Pendleton, Verna Kline of Arizona, and Ida Mercer of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and her trusted friend, "Taco", her Chihuahua. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry (Sharon) Smolka, Delores (Frank) Wroblewski, Lorraine Urbanski, Russell Young, and Wilbur "Billy" Young. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service in Nancy's honor will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the funeral home with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Indiana.
