Nancy Marie Truex, 83, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at Greencroft Long Term Care of natural causes.
Nancy was born on October 19, 1942, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Lloyd and Marjorie (Stutsman) Dunning. She graduated from Mishawaka High School with the Class of 1960. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles "Chuck" Truex; her grandson, Zachary Truex; and her sister, Rebecca Morningstar, stepfather, John Pawlowski, and stepbrothers; Dick, Bob, and David Pawlowski.
Nancy met the love of her life, David Truex, and they were united in marriage on June 19, 1960, in Mishawaka. Together they built a life centered on love for family & friends. Nancy retired from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, where she faithfully served as Kitchen Director.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—crocheting, sewing, cooking, reading, attending garage sales, and watching her favorite game shows. Most of all, Nancy cherished time spent with her family and friends, who were the center of her world.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, David Truex; her children: Michael (Julie) Truex, Lisa (Kevin) Feldhaus, and Anna (Chris) Woods; her grandchildren: Taylor, Matthew (Brooke), Austin, Ashlee (Austin), William (Crysta), Christopher, James, Andrew, Michael, and Kristin; and her great-grandchildren: Willow, Waylon, Kennedy, Aurora, Felicity, Liliana, Keith, Eleanor, Wayne, and Charles. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald (Phyllis) Dunning; her brother-in-law, Ron Morningstar; stepbrothers and step sisters; Eddie Pawlowski, Angela DeMeester, Rita Brockie, Jeannie (Terry) Baum, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Nancy will be remembered for her loving heart, strong spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy of love will continue through the many lives she touched.
