Nancy Lou
Weaver
Apr 21, 1935 — Mar 22, 2020
Nancy Lou Weaver, 84, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, March 22nd. Loving wife of Wayne for over 54 years, they were inseparable and enjoyed special memories of their worldwide travels to favorite places like Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand. They shared countless occasions attending dances, social functions, celebrating holidays and other special events surrounded by their numerous family and friends. They were steadfast supporters of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where they actively attended functions with each organization. Nancy's most cherished holiday was Christmas; she and Wayne always anticipated their annual Christmas shopping weekend in Chicago with their two best friends. Nancy would wear a beautiful, long velvet dress, silver pumps and a matching purse; the foursome dined and enjoyed the entertainment of Vic Damone, Perry Como or other headliners at the Empire Room. This special time of year would find them gathered with family and friends, opening gifts that were carefully selected for everyone, enjoying a delicious meal prepared by Nancy while surrounded by her beautifully decorated home filled with the festivity of abundant love and laughter – not to mention the noise of a boisterous and competitive game of Aggravation. To truly know Nancy was to know that she never missed a Notre Dame Football game, passionately cheering for the Fighting Irish. Always stylish and well put together, she never left the house without wearing her favorite shade of Revlon lipstick, "Love that Red". She had a deep love and compassion for every animal, always donating to animal shelters including The Humane Society. She extended this love and compassion with the many dogs and cats she personally cared for and enjoyed as pets over many years. Nancy retired from Johnson Controls following 44 years of Service. Upon retirement, she and Wayne moved to Brentwood Retirement Community and most recently resided at Hubbard Hill. Nancy was born on April 21, 1935 to Henry and Bonnie Smith in Goshen, IN. She is survived by her Husband, Wayne of Elkhart, IN; children, Lynn Weaver, White Pigeon, MI, Kelly Weaver (Jack Randle) Plainfield, IL, Dale Weaver (Pam) Granger, IN, Doug Weaver (Kathy) Palm Harbor, FL, David Weaver, (Teri) Osceola, IN. Six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The (National Disaster) Search Dog Rescue Foundation (SDF) -- www.donate.searchdogfoundation.org . Funeral arrangements are pending for immediate family by Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (Osceola, IN). Nancy will also be honored with a special Celebration of Life by her husband and children, this special homage will be announced at a later date.
