Norma J. (Fox) Thompson, 81, an Elkhart resident for 80 years, was given her wings to fly Home at 5:15am on Saturday November 5, 2011 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. The Elkhart native was born January 22, 1930 to Granville and Marion (McNaughton) Wilson. She was employed as a nurse''s aide at Elkhart General Hospital, also as a social worker, business owner and assisted many families with child care. Norma was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Elkhart and most recently of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis. "She enjoyed God's nature to the fullest; singing, time spent with family, cooking and vibrant colors."
Norma is survived by her daughters, Andrea Underwood of Houston, Texas, Shawn (Vincent) Culbreath of Indianapolis; her sons, Stanley (Joyce) Fox Jr. and Chauncey Fox, both of Indianapolis; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Ed Thompson; brothers, Richard and Chester and 3 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 2:00 Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 East 10th Street, Indianapolis, where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. Calling also on Friday, November 11th, from 2-3pm in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway followed by a 3:00 Graveside Committal Service in the Garden of Liberty at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
