Olen Vester "O.V." Edgin, age 95, of Mishawaka, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2012. O.V. was born November 11th, 1916 in Regan Crossing, Tennessee to the late Vester and Nellie (West) Edgin. On February 19, 1945 he married Irene Hollin in Miami, Florida. Irene preceded him in death, passing away December 25, 2000.

Surviving are his sons, Bob Edgin and wife Karen of Osceola, Joe Edgin and wife Ruth of Mishawaka. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Tanya Stockman, and Cindy Korkhouse, as well as four great grandchildren Joshua, Stephen Tabitha, and Melissa. O.V. was preceded in death by his six siblings, and his grandson, Todd Edgin.
O.V. served his country honorably in the U.S Navy. Following his discharge, he was employed for over 31 years at Bendix Corporation in South Bend, retiring in 1981. He was a lifetime member of Christ Temple Church in South Bend.

We would like to thank those who have shown their love for our dad through the years. There have been many friends that have meant a lot to dad and to us. Dad's neighbor, good friend and our 'adopted brother', Jon Schloemer has been a blessing to dad and to our family. Dad touched many lives in his 95 years. As he touched the lives around him a 'twinkle' would appear in his eyes. He would pass out his 'peppermint candies', visit school on Veteran's Day, and give out his special 'good-bye' message. His 'good-bye' message always was "BE SMART"! That 'twinkle' in his eyes as he passed out his love was 'worth its weight in gold'!

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Monday, January 16, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana. Reverend Mike McKinnies will officiate the 7:00pm service, following visitation. Interment will be in Milledgeville Cemetery, Milledgeville, Tennessee, January 19th, 2012.
