Ollie Mayfield, 94, of South Bend passed away December 21, 2015 at 2:48 am in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born January 31, 1921 to William and Georgia Mayfield in Indianola, MS. On May 15, 1958 Ollie married Bessie Preston. She preceded him in death. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge. Mr. Mayfield is survived by his Goddaughters, Stefanie (Pal) Troupe and Wilma Kelly both of South Bend; Godson, Larry Williams of South Bend; Special cousin, Tommye Carr Sr. of Chicago, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie; sisters, Jessye Anderson and Olizabeth Mayfield; brothers, Willie, Henry, and Calvin Mayfield. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday,January 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens is assisting the family with the arrangements.
