ELKHART – Orthie L. Cooper, 84, passed away May 10, 2018 in Elkhart. Orthie was born in Mississippi on December 22, 1933 to the late Walker and Viola Franks. She was married to James Cooper II until his passing in 1994. Orthie enjoyed putting puzzles together and also loved to garden. She canned much of the produce from her own garden every year. Orthie is survived by her sons, James Cooper III and Josh Cooper; daughters, Linda (Russell) Fields and Brenda Cooper-Morris; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, and three sisters. In addition to her parents and husband, Orthie was preceded in death by seven siblings. A private ceremony will be observed by Orthie's family at a future date.
