Pauline married Louie Defreese in 2009 whom also preceded her in death along with three brothers and two sisters.

Pauline owned her own business, Pauline's Uniform Center, in the 60's and early 70's. After leaving there she went on to be a "social chemist" at the Ramada Inn. She met and made many lifelong friends while working there. In her last years, she lived at Hellenic Senior Center where she was a greeter for new residents, In typical fashion, she took it seriously to show the new people around. This is where she met a very special friend, Rex Campbell, who gave her much joy and brought the smile back to her that last year of life.

Pauline was a member of Nu Chapter Sorority, Elkhart Ladies of the Moose and Calvary United Methodist Church. She was known for the sweaters she knit for her children and grandchildren as well as all the sweaters she made for others out of love as it was a true joy for her to do. Playing Bingo, Cribbage, Bridge, Hand and Foot, Farkle and Rummy Cube were among her favorites. She was always up to learn and play new games. Pauline, the Queen, never missed a chance to eat, party or hold court. You could always find her wearing her crazy socks and big earrings. She loved to be with family and friends whenever she could.
