Phillip Edward True, 78, of Elkhart, entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2022. He was born on November 12, 1943 to the late Virgil E. True Sr., and Jeanette (Hannah) True in Muncie, IN. Phillip married Barbara J. (Chester) True on October 31, 1964. He was a scout leader for many years and an avid fisherman. At family gatherings he was always asked to tell stories such as how he got his boat stuck in a tree and others were always his favorites.

Phillip worked for Nickles Bakery, Carr Vending, John Hite, Nickell Enterprises, and was retired after 36 years of driving the mail truck for Elkhart Community Schools. He also played Santa for the schools for many years.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved stepmother, Garnet (Fullhart) True; brothers, James Robert and Estle Dewayne True; and grandson-in-law, Pedro Galicia.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Barbara (Chester) True; daughter, Melissa (Wade) Hertsel; grandchildren, Jess Galicia, Zachary (Katie) Hertsel, Nathaniel Hertsel, Aleah Jordan, and Jessica Bouie; great granddaughter, Willow; children of his heart, Sam (Fran) Bouie and Kathy (Mark) Wyatt; and brother, Virgil True Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of service at Faith Community Church, 55540 Apple Rd., Osceola, IN 46561. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
