Officer Philip T. Rissot, age 39, of Middlebury, lost his battle with leukemia Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by his family. Philip was born January 28, 1975 in Goshen, Indiana to Dennis and Beverly (Kirchoff) Rissot. He graduated from Northridge High in 1993. On October 22, 1994 he married Jennifer Scheetz in Elkhart, Indiana.
Philip is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Middlebury, and his 3 daughters Lillianne, Camille, and Abbigaile Rissot, his parents, Dennis and Beverly Rissot of Goshen, and his siblings Shelly (John) Yoder of LaGrange and Amy Rissot of Salem, OR. Also surviving is his father in law, Roger Scheetz and 6 nieces and nephews; Allyson Yoder, Timothy Yoder, Joshua Weaver, Dillon Scheetz, Sadie Rissot, and Jackson Scheetz. Philip was preceded in death by his mother in law, Sally Scheetz.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, Feb.9, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana with Chaplain Jim Shrock of the Goshen Police Department presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Philip was a 15 year veteran of the Goshen Police Department serving as a K-9 Officer with his longtime partner, "Hex." He also served on the S.W.A.T team and in the Police Honor Guard during his tenure with the department. In his spare time, Philip enjoyed watching Minnesota Vikings football, lifting weights and working out, and Ford Mustangs.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Rissot family at INTERRA or Lake City Bank .
