Phyllis Jeanne Taber, 85, of Elkhart, died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Elkhart. The South Bend native was born May 5, 1931 to Edward Joe and Mabel Idella (Weldon) Harmacinski, who have both preceded her in death. On January 28, 1952, Phyllis married Donald H. Taber, Sr. Phyllis will be remembered as a person who enjoyed caring for the elderly and most of all, her family. Phyllis is survived by her children, Donald (Jessica) Taber, Jr. of Elkhart, Rick (Rhonda) Taber of Osceola, and Scott Taber of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Tracy Taber, Donald (Charity) Taber III, Dustin Taber, Travis Taber, and Emily Taber; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Ross of Rock Ledge, FL; her ex-husband, Donald H. Taber, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dennis Childers. A time of visitation will be on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 11-12 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 with a funeral service in Phyllis''s honor at 12 PM. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
