Phyllis A. Kemp, 65, of Elkhart, passed away at 12:15 am, Friday, May 29, 2009 in Valley View Nursing Home, Elkhart. Phyllis was born on July 25, 1943 in Bloomfield, IN to the late Paul and Pauline (Flory) Halderman. On April 10, 1965, she married Wilbert Kemp. He passed away on March 10, 1998.
She is survived by three children, Michael E. Kemp, Charles A. Kemp, and Lisa (Scot) Hunter, all of Elkhart, two grandchildren, Stephanie and Scott Hunter and one great granddaughter, Lillian Elizabeth Hunter. She is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn (Jim) Day of Forreston, IL and Terry (Rich) Par of Bloomfield, IN and one brother, Ed Halderman of Tallahassee, FL.
Phyllis worked at Wendy''s, located at Hively and Benham, for over 23 years before retiring in 2007. She was a member of the First Church of God in Elkhart. She will be remembered for her love of puzzle books including Suduko. There were many family and friends that called her grandma.
Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 pm, Monday, June 1, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 pm with Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
