Ralph William Hensel, 82, of North Liberty, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away at 3:45 am, Friday, November 25, 2011 in his home. Ralph was born on January 3, 1929, the son of the late Ralph J. and Elsie A. (Stoner) Hensel. He married Phyllis Fyar in 1953 and then married Kathy Calvert on September 15, 1979.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Hensel of North Liberty and raised nine children, Ralph A. Hensel, Wayne E. Hensel, Janice M. (Kim) Nettrour, Rose M. Thomas, Paula J. Hensel, Brenda L. Balmer and James E. Thompson, all of Mishawaka and Michael A. Thompson and Debra R. (Don) Scott of South Bend. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as a sister, Margaret Gilbert of Greensville, SC. He is preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Hensel and two sisters.
Ralph worked for Wheel-A-Brator for over 31 years before retiring. He then worked as a greens keeper for Eberhart Golf Course before retiring from there. He was an avid golfer and a member of Club 15.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with burial at 2:00 pm on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

In lieu of flowers, Ralph requested that memorials be made to a Children''s Hospital of choice.
