Ray E. Conley, age 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Regency Place in South Bend. Ray was born January 14, 1927 to the late Robert and Ethel (Funk) Conley in Marion, Indiana. On September 14, 1963, he married the former Ms. Grace E. Webber in Mishawaka.
Ray is survived by his wife Grace, and three daughters; Esther Deakins of Lakeville, IN, Autumn Conley of Bishop, CA, and Sharon (Joseph) Lohman of Rothbury, MI. Ray is also survived by his sister, Esther Miller, and four grandchildren; Alexandria, Gabrielle, and Adam Deakins, and Sydney Lohman. He was preceded in death by his son, Ray L. Conley.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Ray was employed as a supervisor for many years at Dumor Office Furniture, and later at Babcock and Wilcox Manufacturing, where he was a union employee. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed working in his garden, bird watching, fishing, and trapping. Ray also enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. He was also a member of College Park Missionary Church for many years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ray''s name to the Center for Hospice, or a charity of choice.
