Raymond R. Tilton, 82, of Granger, passed away at 5:38 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Hospice House of South Bend. Ray was born on December 20, 1927 in Red Bank, NJ to the late Howard and Margaret (Johnson) Tilton. On April 4, 1974, he married Francis Cruthers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Francis of Granger; nine children, Jerry (Karen) Shorb of Galesburg, MI, Melvin Shorb of Kalamazoo, MI, Brett (Cindy) Shorb of Bluffton, IN, Verna (Steve) Laskowski of Granger, IN, Robert (Kathy) Shorb of Galesburg, MI, Cindy (Scott) Johnson of Elkhart, Russ Tilton of Memphis, TN, Sylvia (Gene) Rush of Buffalo, NY and Laura (James) Cornell of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Ray proudly served his country and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 after 20 years of service. He retired as a Gunny Sergeant. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. He was very proud to be a Marine and loved his family dearly.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
