Obituary

With great sadness, we share the passing of Richard L. "Rick" Connon, who departed this life on October 12, 2025, at the age of 65. Rick passed away peacefully at home among family in Runaway Bay, Texas.

Born on July 8, 1960, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Rick was the son of Patrica Connon (née Callsen) and Richard Connon, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Phillip Curtiss.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Lori Connon (née Curtiss); sons Nathan Connon (Stephanie) and Austin Connon; and his foster care grandbaby, who brought him great joy in his final months. He also leaves behind his faithful companion, Bailey. He is also survived by Lori's family: her sister, Leslie Curtiss (Chris); her brother, Phil Curtiss (Alexandra); and her mother, Nelda Curtiss. He is additionally survived by his brothers, Bob Connon (Dana) and Tom Connon (Sue); his sister, Judy Wills (Julian); along with four nieces, four nephews, and seven great-nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his fierce loyalty, quick humor, and deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Rick embraced every day as an opportunity for adventure, from exploring local wineries with Lori to creating masterful meals together at home. His love for family, friendship, and a well-lived life will remain an enduring part of the legacy he leaves behind. A graduate of Mishawaka High School (Class of 1978), Rick was an active member of the school band and golf team. He went on to attend Valparaiso University, where he was a member of Delta Theta Phi and met the love of his life, Lori.

After graduating, Rick built a long and successful career in the evolving Telecommunications industry, working with companies such as EDS and HP Enterprise. Following time in Detroit, he and Lori settled in Plano, Texas, where they raised their family and built lasting friendships before eventually moving to Runaway Bay to enjoy the tranquility of lake life. In Plano, Rick was a founding member of the Plano Youth Lacrosse Program, serving as a coach, mentor, and later as President of Plano Lacrosse. His dedication to helping youth athletes, including his sons, left a lasting mark on the community. An additional tribute can be found on Instagram at @_planolacrosse .

Rick was also passionate about animal welfare, especially supporting the rescue of Great Pyrenees dogs, a cause close to his heart. Remembrance gatherings will be held at a future date in Indiana and Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Rick's memory to: Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue , P.O.
