Obituary

Richard Alan Pedler, 66, passed away peacefully in his home, with his family at his bedside, Wednesday, June 23, 2010.
Richard was born on October 31, 1943 to Mary (Troyer) and Donald Pedler. He married Ann Miller on May 20, 1995, who preceded him in death.
Richard is survived by his children; Stephaney (Mike) Nay, Elizabeth (Brent) Kattau and Jeffrey (Julie) Miller. Six grandchildren, Evan, Reagan, Layla, Marley, Cade and Camryn. Also a sister, Rosemary Dinse of Roseville, CA.
Richard graduated from Elkhart High School in 1961. He attended Purdue University and graduated from Bethel College, with a degree in Social Work, in 2006.
Richard served with the First Infantry Division in Lai Khe, South Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Rich was president and co-founder of Recovery Journey, an addictions treatment center in Elkhart. He was president of the board for the Elkhart County Drug Free Partnership. He was also chairman of the board of Tobacco Control of Elkhart County.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He mentored children through DreamsWork and CARES. He received great satisfaction from providing counseling and support to the involved in substance abuse recovery programs. He liked traveling, the theatre, movies and books. He and his wife Ann were avid high school and college football fans.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm, Monday, June 28, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 1st Congregational Church UCC, 431 South 3rd St., Elkhart.
Memorials may be given to The Ann and Richard Pedler Memorial Dollars for Scholars Scholarship, 57629 Boulder Court, Goshen, IN 46528.
