Richard August Scheibelhut Jr., 90, formerly of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Tanglewood Trace in Mishawaka, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on November 19, 1935, in Mishawaka to the late Richard and Adie Lucille (Jennings) Scheibelhut. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Johnson.

A proud graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1953, Richard later met the love of his life, Mary Ann Bokhart. The two were married in Mishawaka on July 21, 1956, and shared a lifetime of devotion, love, and partnership.

Richard was a loyal and longtime member of St. Ann Parish in Cassopolis. Known for his friendly, outgoing nature, he was a true social spirit who never met a stranger. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching sports—especially Notre Dame football—serving as a Notre Dame football usher for 63 years, and was active with the Council on Aging in Cassopolis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; his sons, Thomas Scheibelhut and Mark (Michele) Scheibelhut; his grandson, Cory (Gloria) Scheibelhut, his brother; John (Jane) Scheibelhut; sisters; Vicki (Edward) Filley, Nancy Wolfe, and Mary Copper; and many cherished nieces, nephews, friends, and associates.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana.
