Richard "Rich" D. Spenner 80, residing at West Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center passed away Thursday evening Marsh 5, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend with his family at his side. Richard was born into a large family his parents being Fred Oscar and Esther Marie (Dipert) Spenner of Niles MI. Richard resided in and around Niles, MI. and South Bend, IN and attended Edwardsburg schools. For most of his life Richard was employed as a well- driller and for more than twenty years he was a member of the house keeping staff at Notre Dame before retiring. Richard enjoyed camping , fishing, playing the lottery and dining out. On December 18, 1955 in Smith''s Chapel Niles MI. Richard wed the former the former Betty Jean Overmyer. From this union came three sons and three daughters. Those left to cherish his memory include sons Fred Spenner of South Bend, Robert Spenner of South Bend and daughters, Kathy Spenner of Mishawaka, Janine (Lomond) Fairley of Mishawaka and Sandra Manning of Mishawaka also five grandchildren Beth, Adrienne, Richard, Patrick and Heather and two great-grandchildren. He also has two siblings surviving and they are sister Margaret (Dave) Dyer of Michigan and brother Theodore "Ted" Spenner of Florida. Preceding Richard in death was his wife of fifty six years Betty Jean Spenner who passed May 12, 2012 and a son David Spenner who passed on July 22, 1992. A memorial service will be held Thursday March 12, 2015 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN. 46561 at 2:00p.m.with Rev. Robert Vale officiating.
