Richard G. Walters, 86, of Osceola, died Thursday February 26 at Peabody Retirement Community. The Silver Lake native was born December 22, 1928 to Harley G. & Nerla M. (Hinsey) Walters. On January 1, 1950 he married Jo Anne Hite. Richard was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Uniroyal after 38 years there. He was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church; he was a proficient handyman & woodworker, who enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing the organ and his membership in the Michiana Organ Club. Richard also volunteered with Real Services and assisted with food service and meals on wheels. In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert & Earl; Maude, Kathleen, Betty & Donnabelle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jo Anne Walters of Osceola and several nieces & nephews. Funeral Services 2:00 Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call for one hour prior to services. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
